Can you guess which area in your house might be one of the most dangerous overall to your families?
Most people would never guess this place because the reasons are not what you would expect! However, once you read the following information you might understand more about the hidden dangers of the key house location.
In case you’re wondering which location I’m talking about it’s your (wait for it)… Kitchen sink! Dangers lurk all around your kitchen sink and we’re going to discover them together so you can re-think you sinking strategies!
The first place I want to talk about is above your kitchen sink. Specifically your faucet!
The water coming from your faucet can be a danger to your family. Here in the United States, we believe that we all have access to clean drinking water, and for the most part, many of us do. But we don’t ultimately have control over what comes through our faucet even though it looks clean and crystal clear. If you are on city water there’s a good chance that your water has been treated with fluoride and possibly has traces of chlorine. These are not things that are good for your gut health and your microbiome. But these are easy things to fix! We will talk about your options a little bit farther down in this article.
What about those of us on well-water?
So what should we do in either case?
- You could install the filter right on your kitchen faucet
- you could use a well-known water filter pitcher and then transfer the clean water to your refrigerator
- you could get individual water bottles that have built-in filters.
These are all easy do it yourself choices. You just have to decide what’s best for you….
Now let’s talk about the second area of your sink that is dangerous. It is the sink itself!
Lying quietly at the bottom of your kitchen sink and around your drain can be millions and millions of bacteria and other nasty micro-organisms that can make your family sick. If there’s any food residue or standing water in the bottom of your sink left from dirty dishes it can be a breeding ground for bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella. Keeping your sink clean is VERY important for your family’s health! Some people would say to use bleach to clean your sink however if you’re cutting out toxins from your house that’s not a good idea.
The third area of danger is actually under your sink.
Most of us keep cleaning supplies under our sink and unless we’ve made them ourselves, they are usually full of harmful chemicals. Many of the things and are very convenient and easy to buy household cleaners are actually damaging to our health. Some affect our endocrine system, some hurt our gut health and microbiome and others are known carcinogens.
So what can you do?
